NII STALI is one of very few Russian companies who during
the "perestroika" period managed to utilize its
unique test basis formed in mid-1980s for defense equipment
testing.
NII STALI was the first to suggest and realize
the idea of using the available test facilities as the basis
for special Test Centers for certification of different protective
products (body armor, helmets, bank equipment etc.).
The first Russian Test Center for certification
of personal protection equipment was established in 1992 in
NII STALI. At the moment under NII STALI there are as much
as six independent test Centers accredited by GOSSTANDART
of RF (Russian State Standardization Committee); among the
centers are the first Russian Center for testing of bank equipment
for breaking and the only Russian Center for certification
of electroshock devices.

MAIN ADVANTAGES
1. Direct connection to a time-interval counter and an oscillograph
2. No need in an external magnetic bias source (substantial
reduction of power consumption)
3. Easy mounting and operation
4. No need in extra operations to align the meter and the
indenter travel axis.
5. Applicable in field conditions
POTENTIALS
1. Creation of a family of velocity meters for 5.45-30mm
ballistic barrels
2. Mating the meter with standard small arms systems
3. Fitting the meter with a miniature digital device for recalculation
and display of the travel velocity with the time-interval
measurement accuracy of 0.1%
Status: pilot production
