Armored cars and trucks

NII STALI engaged in car and truck armoring as a separate field of activities in early 90s, during the perestroika period. But the first Russian armored limousine was made long before that. It was ZIL-4105 limousine for Leonid Brezhnev, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. The limousine was armored by NII STALI in cooperation with ZIL motor works. The protection level provided by the limousine was very high for that time: AKM assault rifle point-blank and grenade bursts under the belly and on the rood; besides, the limousine was equipped with an explosion-proof fuel tank (also designed by NII STALI).   In fact that limousine gave start to development of Russian armored cars both for governmental and commercial purposes. And NII STALI was among the first to design and manufacture Russian armored cars in cooperation with motor industry.   Nowadays several dozens of specialized companies deal with car armouring; they have an up-to-date equipment and facilities and are able to arrange large-scale production of armored cars. NII STALI cannot compete with such companies now. Still great experience of the company in protection area allows it to maintain its place where design of armor for new car models, custom-made armor protection of personal cars and car armor certification and testing are concerned.   Besides car armoring, NII STALI also deals with armor protection of other transport vehicles including railroad cars, trucks, missile transporter vehicles etc.

URAL-4320-31 WITH ADDITIONAL PROTECTION KIT

The additional protection kit protects against the following threats:      - 5.45mm PP hard-core bullets (7N10) to AK-74 assault rifle;      - 7.62mm PS-43 hard-core bullets (57-N231) to AK-47;      - 7.62mm LPS bullets (57-N-323S) to SVD rifle;      - F-1 grenade fragments (cabin and engine compartment floor, truck body belly) Weight of the armor kit: 2480 kg

ARMORED RAILROAD CARS

In cooperation with Tver railroad car factory NII STALI manufactures armored railroad cars for different purposes: 3F-30 car for transportation of special goods; PS8-1 special-purpose car; 61-4155 VIP lounge car; 61-4159 car for transportation of valuables and cash.

61-4159 can be used on railways with the gauge of 1520mm in any climatic conditions for safe carrying up to 12000 kg of valuables.

The car looks just like an up-to-date passenger car and can be coupled to any train. The interior equipment of the car enables durable autonomous functioning.

Safety of the goods is ensured by an elaborate car layout, window and door bars, an alarm system, alarm bells and blocking locks on each door.

The car body is an all-metal structure and is protected by bulletproof armor plates. The windows are also bulletproof.

For comfortable convoy of valuables the following equipment is installed in the car:

• ventilation system;
  
• heating system with an electric and coal-fired water boiler;
  
• water-supply system of 1430 liter capacity;
  
• large refrigerator to keep food supplies.
