 Dear Niistali,

In response to John Krumplys query regarding K-6 helmets, you say: "On the other hand, it is possible for an individual to buy a helmet from us, but it will require some time to get the license."

I would like to know what is required in order to receive a license, i.e. what kind of formalities must be made, and to whom.

Can you please give some information about this?

Many thanks in advance.

 Dear NiiStali,

I have few questions about the Kontakt-5;

1. If a KE penetrator hits the "spent" K-5 cell, will the already detonated K-5 provide same protection as other K-5 cells that are not yet detonated?

2. How many cells are there in a single K-5 block?

Thanks in advance

  Dear Nistali,
I have a question i was curious as to what it would take to buy one of the Helmets that u supply to russias army.

Friedrich Schueler (Pine Knot, Ky) Jul 22, 2008, 12:07 PM
  Dear Nii Stali,

I have been wondering for some time now, what is the general price range for a K-6 helmet? I am among those Russian Gear enthusiasts who would be simply enthralled to have the opportunity to properly own a genuine Russian helmet, famed here for it's durability and will to fulfill its function. What would the price be in USD?

Yours sincerely and respectfully, Friedrich Schueler.

Dear Sir. We are investigating adding ERA to a fleet of our light armoured vehicles (for NATO). Do you have any more information for your products such as areal densities and threats defeated?
Thanks,
Randy

 Dear Sir,

I write to you because I just found your web-site and I am interesting your products.

What I would like to ask is-export service available to Japan,or not.

P7 BALLISTIC FABRIC-POLYMER COMPOSITE HELMETS P-7,P7-1
TITANIUM AND ALUMINIUM HELMETS K-6,K6-3

If you can export these products to Japan,I would like you to tell me price, shipping method and how to pay.

I look forwatd to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,
Popoku

First of all, your website is a wonderful treasure trove.
I am also impressed that you take the time to write back to armor enthusiasts, historians, etc.
I have 2 questions for you,

1. I have examined a number of T-72 tanks in foriegn service, I am curious as to the effectiveness of the inner radiation liner found on export ( and russian MOD ) tanks.

can you tell us the rationale for this design and if possible the general composition of it as all of my research has found nothing but conflicting assesments. Also is this the same liner that was placed on later t-72 models and is currently used on the new T-90?
any information on this would be helpful.

Secondly , in light of the Greek govt's purchase of the BMP-3 could you provied us with information as to what design and features will be available upon delivery?

lastly I too would also love to see some photos of the t-72 with bdd armor.

many thanks and the best of luck to you .
John Harachis

I Your site and work is really good, I have some questions, I hope that you can respond them

on the web I read that few T-72's on early eighties receive the BDD armor maybe on afghanistan do you have a picture?

second the Relikt ERA can also be used on old T-80B do you will post more pictures? will be fine to do a 1/35 scale model

and do the T-90 will receive the Relikt on future?

thanks!!!!

Evangelos (thessaloniki Greece) Jan 23, 2008, 04:20 PM
 Dear sirs

Since Greece has come to an agreement of aquiring the BMP-3 IFV I would like to ask is it possible to apply the Relikt armor on the vehicle and if so how much weight would that add

  Dear NII STALI,

Thank you for answering my previous questions. I have a couple of new ones mainly about armor protection:

1. Is it a new trend in HEAT warhead design to move towards higher density liners than copper?

2. Shouldn't higher density liners be more effective against ceramic armor? Let's say that we have two HEAT warheads, one with liner made from copper, and the other with liner made from tantalum, and that they have the same penetration capability in RHA targets. Shouldn't the tantalum warhead perform better against ceramic targets due to its higher density?

3. When an ERA tile is detonated by an incoming jet, is there a transverse wave motion propagating in the jet that breaks it up? If not, what are the main mechanisms that degrade the performance of a jet when penetrating ERA?

4. In penetrating ERA, how much do different degradation mechanisms contribute to shaped charge jet consumption?

5. How is it possible that molybdenum shaped charge liners have a higher tip velocity than copper, even though molybdenum has higher density?

6. What is the future for T-80U and T-72B tanks in the Russian army? Are they being modernized?

7. Are Russian tanks (T-80U and T-90) designed to survive without reactive armor?

8. About the K6-3 helmet: Can it really be purchased by simply coming to Moscow NII STALI office? Without any licensing?

9. Are the RYS-T and URAL helmets cleared for export too?

I'm fully aware that my questions touch on delicate issues, but I hope you can answer at least some of them.

Best regards,

Jukka Janhunen, M.Sc. (Tech.)

Hallo, i would like to know if it is possible to use some of your picture for no-profit projects, like wikipedia.
Thanks a lot.

Merlijn (The Netherlands) Aug 05, 2007, 05:31 AM
  Hello,

i have a few questions regarding the new helmets..

The protection level of the new RYS-T and URAL series is level 2, is this the protecion level of NIJ-STD-0106.01? if not , what NIJ level is it ?..

What is the V50 of these helmets and has the protection of the visors increased ?..

is the RYS-T and URAL series an upgrade of the K6 serie or do these helmets look diffrent?..

What are the results of the damage of an hit on the helmet ( k-6 and upgrade ) and visor from a 5.45x39 bullet and 7.62x39?..

to wich systems can the GBSh-P-5 be hooked on?..

And what are the prices of the new helmets?..

--------------------------------
Niistali: Dear Merlijn,
The new helmets of RYS and Ural series were designed according to the Russian standard (GOST R50744-95), so Level 2 is the protection level as per this standard (TT pistol steel-core bullet at 5 meters). This level is similar to IIIA level of NIJ-0101.04.
V50 of these helmets is >700m/s. The visor protection level remained the same (Level 1 GOST standard - Makarov pistol at 5 meters).

The RYS and URAL helmets look like K6 series helmets but their protection pattern is completely different. Therefore their weight (without the visor) is 200-400 gramm less than that of K6 helmets.
The new helmets can be fitted with all types of headsets.
We'll send you our quotation in response to your detailed enquiry.
